Have you ever heard of Boarding for Breast Cancer and their Shred the Love tour?
Boarding for Breast Cancer (B4BC) is a 501(c)3 non-profit foundation that advocates early detection and a healthy, active, and sustainable lifestyle as the best means for breast cancer prevention. Founded in 1996, B4BC empowers young people to make positive choices that promote lifelong wellness through outreach, prevention, sustainability, and support programs. Needless to say, they are a rad organization that does equally rad stuff in the board sports industry to help raise funds and awareness.
The Shred the Love tour this season was our chance to help give back and get involved. After a successful first event with them at Alpine Meadows, we signed up to do a demo and join them once again at Sierra-at-Tahoe for another round of fun! We threw together a ton of swag, donations, and raffle items to put towards the
Growing Young founder, Jared Hill, my wife Maggie and I drove up to Sierra-at-Tahoe early the morning of the event. Once we met up, we wasted no time in getting everything unloaded and set up. Our tent was in line with a handful of other awesome companies and right next to the music stage. We had multiple boards to raffle and we sold our hats at a discounted price, donating all proceeds from the day directly to B4BC.
It was a nice busy day at Sierra and we had a handful of demo boards go out with guests. We were also able to raise a good amount of money for B4BC by selling $1 raffle tickets and our discounted hats. Everyone was so down with the cause it just made for a fun day.
At the end of the day, we made a ton of new friends and connections, spread our brand, and supported an awesome organization behind a very important cause. We will see you at the next one!
